COMPOSTS / SOIL AMENDMENTS

ORGANIC SOLUTIONS composts are excellent organic soil amendments which furnish beneficial micro-organisms and nutrients. This addition of organic amendments enhances soil structure to provide a healthy growing medium.

Our composts are produced from landscape trimmings, primarily from landscape maintenance and tree service contractors. No biosolids, manures, food wastes or synthetic chemicals are added.

ORGANIC SOLUTIONS compost is produced through an aerobic decomposition process in accordance with the State of California Integrated Waste Management Board requirements. We follow methods and guidelines established by the California Compost Quality Council to produce a compost free of viable weed seeds and pathogens. All operations are monitored by the Solano County Department of Resource Management. We are members of the U.S. Composting Council, and participate in the Seal of Testing Assurance program.

ORGANIC SOLUTIONS offers the following grades of compost to fit your specific needs:

Soil Builder
This is our most popular grade of compost, used primarily as a soil amendment. It is high in organic content, and rich in nutrients and micro-organisms. Particle sizes range from 1/2" to dust. Laboratory test data is available upon request. Clients also use Soil Builder as a mulch in their landscape projects.

Turf Topper
This is our top of the line compost, specifically designed for the professional turfgrass maintenance manager. It is produced from select feedstocks and processed for approximately one year to make an excellent turf topdressing material for fine lawns and athletic fields. Turf Topper is a very well aged, fine textured material which easily filters down into the grass surface. It is very rich in nutrients and beneficial micro-organisms to promote a healthier turf grass. Particle sizes are from 3/8" to dust.

Soil Amender
This grade of compost is between our Turf Topper and Soil Builder in both maturity and particle size, producing a compost suitable for both turf topdressing and soil amending. It contains more active micro-organisms and is coarser textured than Turf Topper, but is still fine enough to filter into the turf surface. This product is also excellent as a soil amendment when additional fines are desired.

Primary Compost
This is another soil amending compost much like Soil Builder, but with larger particle sizes included. This unscreened compost is usually utilized on large landscape projects with tight budget constraints. Particle sizes range from 4" to dust. It may contain small amounts of foreign matter. It is excellent for loosening heavy clay soils, but not recommended for high-end landscape projects.
