COMPOSTED MULCHES
Composted Mulches are created during the screening or sizing process of our compost. These mulches have gone through the pathogen reduction process to eliminate possible pathogens and viable weed seeds. Like our composts, they are dark brown in color, and provide some nutrients and microbial activity to the soil as they slowly decompose.
ORGANIC SOLUTIONS offers the following grades of composted mulches to fit your specific needs:

Soil Builder
This is actually our standard grade of compost. Our customers have found that, as well as an excellent soil amendment, it also serves as a desirable mulch in lieu of wood and bark products. Its dark brown color and fine texture make it an excellent choice for high end landscapes. It is high in nutrients and beneficial micro-organisms to enrich the upper layer of garden soil. |

Midnight Mulch
This mulch is made from composted material which has not been allowed to cure or age. As a result, it contains fewer fines than Soil Builder, while retaining the rich brown color and semi-fine texture. Its larger particle size suggests that it will be a long lasting mulch in the landscape. |

Midcut Mulch
Coarser still than Midnight Mulch, this mulch has fewer fines and a higher percentage of woody material. It may contain some foreign matter such as small pieces of plastic, and is not recommended for high end landscapes. |

Fresh Mulch
This material is made by grinding landscape trimmings. It has not gone through the composting process so pathogens and viable weed seeds may be present. Since it has not been screened, particle sizes will range from 1/4 inch to 4+". It may be used as a groundcover mulch at 2-4" inches thick. Home composters may use this material to create their own compost. |
